On this page, you’ll see how to change your phone number, email address, physical and mailing addresses, legal name. You can also find instructions to cancel a permit.

Changing your phone number
You can change your contact phone number using this procedure. To chane your phone number for multifactor authentication, see Settings and Security.
To change your phone number
- From your homepage, click Manage My Profile.
- On the Profile tab, you’ll see your current name. Just under it, click Change Name.
- Enter a new name and click OK.
Changing your email address
You can change the email address for your TAP account. To see the current email address, click Manage My Profile on the TAP home page.
To change email addresses you use for multifactor authentication, see Settings and Security.
To change your email address
- On the TAP home page, click Manage My Profile.
- In the Profile panel, click Change email.
- Type the new email address.
- Click OK.
Adding or changing a mailing address when filing
You can add or change a mailing address for a single tax type when you file a return using this procedure. To change a mailing address when you’re not filing, see Changing an address, below. For security reasons, it can take a few weeks before we confirm a new address.
To add or change a mailing address when filing
- On your TAP homepage, click the Summary
- Select the tax type whose address you want to add or change and click File/View Returns.
- If you see multiple periods, select the one you want and click File Now to the right.
- On the Permit or Address Changes screen, answer Yes to “Do you need to change your address?” and click Next.
- Add or change your address and click Next.
- Finish filing your return. Submitting your return also submits your address changes.
The updated information appears in your TAP account when we’ve changed it.
Changing a mailing or location address
You can update an address existing address that appears in your TAP account. For security reasons, it can take a few weeks before we confirm a new address.
To change a mailing or location address
- On your TAP homepage, click the More tab.
- In the Names and Addresses panel, click Manage Names and Addresses.
- On the Addresses tab, click the address you want to change.
- Beneath the address, click Change this address.
- Complete all required fields. If you see Verify Address toward the bottom of the screen click it, choose the correct address from the window that opens, and click Save.
- Click Submit.
The updated information appears in your TAP account when we’ve changed it.
Changing your legal name
Changing your legal name, such as when you get married, requires you to upload supporting documentation.
Changing your legal name is different than changing other names:
- To change your profile name in TAP, such as if you want it to show your nickname, see “Changing your profile name” on the Settings and Security page.
- To change your username when you log in, see “Changing your username” on the Settings and Security page.
- For businesses changing their DBA, see “Changing your DBA name” below.
To change your legal name
- On your TAP homepage, click the More tab.
- In the Names and Addresses panel, click Manage Names and Addresses.
- On the Names tab, click your legal name.
- Under your name, click Change this name.
- In the Name field, enter the new name.
- Upload one of the supporting documents listed in one of these ways:
- Drag and drop the file onto the Choose File or Drop Here area.
- Click the Choose File or Drop Here area, select a file from your computer, and click OK.
- Repeat the previous step for any other files you want to upload.
- Click Submit. You’ll receive a confirmation screen. Click OK to leave or Printable View to print it.
Changing your DBA name
You can’t change your Doing Business As (DBA) through TAP. You’ll need to complete an Idaho Business Registration (IBR) application. See more information in the Idaho Business Registration (IBR) guide.
Canceling a permit
Through TAP, you can cancel a permit that you have with the Idaho State Tax Commission. Generally, people cancel permits when they’re no longer in business.
You have three options for canceling a permit.
To cancel a permit when you file your final return in TAP
Select the Cancel Permit box when you file your final return for that tax type in TAP. Please allow 7-14 days for your request to take effect.
To cancel a permit in TAP
- On the TAP home page, click the Summary tab.
- Find the account you want and click Cancel Permit.
- Enter the effective date and any comments.
- Click Submit.
- Make sure to file your final return for this tax type.
To cancel a permit from the Tax Commission website
- Go to tax.idaho.gov/ss.
- Complete a brief online form.
- Make sure to file your final return for this tax type.
Please allow up to 30 days for your request to take effect
