Settings and Security

You can change account information such as your login information, the way you get authentication codes, and your security questions.

Changing your profile name

You can change your name, if, for example, you want it to show your nickname.

Changing your name here is different than changing your username to log in (see below), your legal name, or your business’s DBA name. For your legal name or DBA name, see Changing your information.

  1. On your TAP homepage, click Manage My Profile.
  2. On the Profile tab, you’ll see your current name. Just under it, click Change Name.
  3. Enter a new name and click OK.

You can change your username after you’re registered. You use your username to log into TAP. To change the profile name in your account, such as have it show your nickname, see Changing your profile name, above.

  5. Click OK.

Use your new password the next time you log in.

Managing authentication methods

You must use two-factor authentication (2FA) as added security for your TAP account. If you’ve chosen to “Trust this browser,” you might not be prompted for an authentication code. Otherwise, you’ll be prompted when you log in to request an authentication code (security code) be sent to you in the method you chose. You should receive the code within 1-5 minutes.

For everything except a passkey, you must use two different methods (such as a password and authentication app) each time you log in to TAP. You can choose an authentication app, email, or phone number (for a text message) to get your authentication code.  You can add multiples of some, such as phone numbers. Note that some cell phone service providers use security measures that slow text message delivery.

To cmanage authentication methods

  1. On your TAP homepage, click Manage My Profile.
  2. On the Security tab, choose the method you want and click the link to the right of it.
  3. Do one of these:
    • To set up a new method, follow the instructions on screen.
    • To delete a certain method, email, or phone number, click the X next to that choice and click Yes to confirm you want to delete it.

Changing your security question

Security questions allow you to reset your password if you forget it. Choose questions you’ll remember but that are difficult for others to guess.

  1. On your TAP homepage, click Manage My Profile.
  2. On the Security tab, scroll down to the Security Questions section and click Change Security Questions.
  3. Choose a new question, enter the answer, and type the answer again to confirm it.
  4. Click OK.
