Tax Commission News Release

Tax deadlines extended for Idaho wildfire victims

BOISE, IDAHO — Aug. 20, 2013 — The Idaho State Tax Commission is extending tax filing and payment deadlines for taxpayers affected by Idaho wildfires in the following counties: Blaine, Boise, Camas, Custer, Elmore, and Oneida.

Taxpayers from these state-declared disaster areas have until Sept. 30, 2013, to mail any completed returns along with payments due from Aug. 12 through Sept. 30.

The relief is for all Idaho tax types and applies both to individuals and businesses in the disaster areas, as well as to those whose tax records are located there.

To qualify for the extension, taxpayers should write “2013 IDAHO FIRES” in red ink at the top of their tax return. If they need a paper return mailed to them, they should call the Tax Commission at (208) 334-7660 in the Boise area or (800) 972-7660 toll free.

If taxpayers file their returns and receive a notice charging penalties or interest for filing returns or paying taxes late, they should return the notice and include the statement “2013 IDAHO FIRES” or call the Tax Commission.
