Sept. 15 deadline nears for businesses with filing extensions
BOISE, IDAHO — Sept. 10, 2015 — Businesses that are filing their state and federal income taxes to meet the federal extension deadline of Sept. 15 should consider filing electronically, according to the Idaho State Tax Commission.
“E-filing is a cost-effective way to submit returns,” said Doreen Warren, Revenue Operations division administrator for the Tax Commission. “It saves paper and mailing costs and provides filers with a confirmation receipt.”
Warren said businesses should verify whether their software supports electronic filing of Idaho returns. If it doesn’t, they should visit the Tax Commission’s website at tax.idaho.gov. The site features approved software developers that offer electronic filing for Idaho’s corporation, S corporation, and partnership tax returns, as well as federal returns. The list is available through the “Business income tax e-filing” link under “Quick Picks” on the home page.
“About 56 percent of businesses filed electronically last year, and we’d like to see that number increase,” said Warren. She added, “We expect more than 10,000 business income tax returns to be filed in September.”
