Overview
The Tax Policy section oversees the
taxing district budget and levy process, coordinates the
Property Tax Reduction Program (Circuit Breaker), Property Tax Deferral Program, the development of property tax rules, and
analyzes various aspects of Idaho property
taxes. These include the effect of exemptions
and new legislation, the amount of property tax paid by
different groups of taxpayers, and the amount of
property tax paid by Idaho in comparison with other
states. The section also prepares reports on compliance with ratio study
standards and writes decisions reflecting
State Board of Equalization actions on appeals. For more

Property Tax Reduction (Circuit Breaker)
is a program for qualifying homeowners that reduces

allows qualified homeowners to postpone payment of the property taxes they owe for their home and up to one acre of land,
