Overview

Property Tax Policy Overview GraphicThe Tax Policy section oversees the taxing district budget and levy process, coordinates the Property Tax Reduction Program (Circuit Breaker), Property Tax Deferral Program, the development of property tax rules, and analyzes various aspects of Idaho property taxes. These include the effect of exemptions and new legislation, the amount of property tax paid by different groups of taxpayers, and the amount of property tax paid by Idaho in comparison with other states. The section also prepares reports on compliance with ratio study standards and writes decisions reflecting State Board of Equalization actions on appeals. For more information contact Alan Dornfest, (208) 334-7742 or Rick Anderson, (208) 332-6624.

Property Tax Reduction (Circuit Breaker) is a program for qualifying homeowners that reduces individual taxpayer’s property taxes. For more information about this program contact Claire Cunningham at (208) 334-7736.
