Waiting for your state tax refund? Find out where it is
BOISE, IDAHO — April 11, 2011 — If you want to know the status of your Idaho income tax refund, go to the Idaho State Tax Commission website at tax.idaho.gov, and click on "Where's My Refund?" at the top of the home page.
You can also get a refund update by calling the Tax Commission's toll-free automated phone number at (888) 228-5770 or 364-7389 in the Boise area.
Both refund services are available 24 hours a day. To get your refund status, you must provide your Social Security number and the amount of your expected refund.
“All returns go through automated reviews before we issue any refunds,” said Renee Eymann, public information specialist for the Tax Commission. She added, “We’ve implemented these extra checks to make sure the correct refunds are issued.”
When you file your taxes online, your refund status is usually available three to five business days after filing the return. The refund should arrive in about four weeks. However, if you’re a first-time filer in Idaho or your return is stopped for further review, it can take an extra three weeks to receive your refund.
If you file a paper return, you can expect to wait five weeks for your refund status. The refund should arrive in up to 10 weeks.
