Tax Commission News Release
File business income taxes electronically
BOISE, IDAHO — March 10, 2011 — Businesses that want to file their Idaho income tax returns electronically should check out the Idaho State Tax Commission website at tax.idaho.gov. The site features approved software developers who offer electronic filing for Idaho’s corporation, S corporation, and partnership tax returns. To get a list of providers, click on the “Business income tax e-filing” link under “Quick Picks.”
“The software providers charge different fees and offer different levels of services for e-filing state and federal returns, so businesses should compare the offers to see which one best serves their needs,” said Doreen Warren, revenue operations administrator for the Tax Commission.
She added, “Tax preparers that are required to e-file federal returns should consider e-filing the Idaho return, too. If their current tax software doesn’t support business e-filing for Idaho, they should ask their software company to add an e-file option for Idaho returns.”
Electronic filing saves paper and mailing costs, and it allows businesses to get their refunds faster than if they file by paper. The software does the math, and businesses get a confirmation receipt.
Last year about 29 percent of Idaho businesses filed their income tax returns online.
