Cancellation
You may cancel your
IFTA license if you no longer operate qualified motor vehicles in two or more IFTA
jurisdictions, including Idaho. To request the cancellation of your IFTA license, complete
the tax return for the last quarter of interstate activity. Mark the cancellation box on
the return and send it to the Idaho State Tax Commission along with your original IFTA
license and unused decals. If you cancel your IFTA license after a new
quarter begins, you must file a return to close out your account. You can apply for a new IFTA license at any time. For
additional information, contact IFTA Licensing, Idaho State Tax Commission, PO Box 36,
Boise ID 83722-0410, or by contacting us by phone at 334-8692 (no toll free number is available).
Revocation
If you do not remit fuel taxes on time, do not remit your taxes in full, do not file an
IFTA tax return, or do not comply with the IFTA recordkeeping requirements, your IFTA
license may be revoked for cause. You will be given notification by certified mail of the
Tax Commission's intent to revoke your license. You will have 63 days from the date
of the letter to appeal the intended revocation. The revocation of your Idaho IFTA license
may cause you to be stopped from traveling in Idaho by the Idaho Transportation
Department. Additionally, other jurisdictions will be notified of your
license revocation. Many jurisdictions will require that you obtain a
temporary permit (trip permit) for fuel taxes for each movement within
its jurisdiction. Some jurisdictions impose even stricter sanctions.
If you have your IFTA license revoked for cause but you wish to operate your IFTA fleet
in any jurisdiction without buying individual temporary permits (trip
permits) for fuel taxes, you must first correct the
problems that caused the revocation. Then, you may apply for a new license to obtain valid
credentials and decals. For additional information, contact IFTA Collection Manager, Idaho
State Tax Commission, PO Box 36, Boise ID 83722-0410, or by contacting us by phone at
334-7744 in the Boise area or toll-free 1-800-972-7660, ext. 7744.
