IdaFuel Software Upgrade

How to upgrade IdaFuel 3.3 software to IdaFuel 3.4

NOTE: You must complete all of the steps below in sequence; if you don't, you'll lose all of your data.

If you need help installing the IdaFuel software or have any questions regarding these changes:
Call 332-6632 in the Boise area or toll free at (800) 972-7660, ext. 6632, or e-mail efilehelp@tax.idaho.gov.

IdaFuel 3.4 is now available for your use. You'll need to use this new version of software to file your fuel distributor reports beginning with the June 2009 report (due by the end of July 2009). This upgrade removes the previously allowed deduction for ethanol and biodiesel, per a new Idaho law (HB 338).

  1. After filing your May 2009 fuel distributor report, click on the Tools button (wrench icon) from the main screen of IdaFuel.

  2. Export all data out of IdaFuel 3.3 (current version).

  3. Exit IdaFuel 3.3.

  4. Make a copy of the entire IdaFuel 3.3 install folder;
    1. Select the FTR2002 folder by clicking on it once (default location: C:\Program Files).

    2. Press the key combination "Ctrl" + "c" (Hint: hold the "Ctrl" key down while pressing "c").
    3. Press the key combination "Ctrl" + "v". This will create a copy of the "FTR2002" folder, called "Copy of FTR2002", in the same location. This is to ensure that you'll have a backup of your old data should you ever need it in the future.

  5. Download the new User Guide by clicking on its link: UG.htm

  6. Once the User Guide opens in your browser, go to its File Menu and choose the command "Save As".

  7. In the "Save Webpage" dialog box that opens (see the image below),
    1. Navigate to your C:\
    2. Type the name "UG" as the name for the file you're about to save.
    3. In the "Save as type" drop down menu, choose the "Web Archive, single file (*.mht)" format as in the image below and click on the Save button:

  8. Once the User Guide is downloaded and saved on your hard disk, you're ready to download IdaFuel 3.4. Right click on the link "FTR2002.mde" and choose the "Save Target As" command form the shortcut menu to download and replace your FTR2002.mde file on your hard drive with the new one - default location : "C:\Program Files\FTR2002".

  9. Right-click on your IdaFuel 3.3 shortcut (on your desktop, or Start Menu, or both) and "Rename" it as IdaFuel 3.4

  10. Run IdaFuel 3.4 by double-clicking on its shortcut. Note the new Tax Period (June 2009) on the main screen of IdaFuel.
  11. Again, click on the Tools button (wrench icon) from the main screen of IdaFuel 3.4.

  12. Click on the "Upgrade to IdaFuel v3.4" button

  13. You'll be asked to confirm importation of your old data:

  14. Click on Yes

  15. You'll receive confirmation when the import is complete.

  16. Click the "OK" button.
  17. You'll be brought back to the main screen of IdaFuel 3.4 and ready to enter or import your data for the June 2009 filing.

    Success!

    Thank you.
