Tax Commission opens Lewiston office on Tax Day, April 18

Drop off tax returns at Tax Commission’s curbside service April 18

BOISE, IDAHO — April 11, 2016 — Last-minute tax filers in the Boise area can drop off their state income tax returns without getting out of their car. The Idaho State Tax Commission will offer its annual curbside service to taxpayers from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, April 18. The Tax Commission is located at 800 Park Blvd., Plaza IV (the Washington Group Complex) in Boise. Individual income tax returns and payments are due April 18 this year. (Read more)

Tax Commission warns of identity theft scams; what to do if you become a victim

BOISE, IDAHO — April 8, 2016 — What if you file your income taxes only to learn that someone already filed a return using your name and Social Security number? Unfortunately, you won’t be alone if this happens to you. The Idaho State Tax Commission saw a 64 percent increase in stolen identities used to file Idaho income tax returns from 2014 to 2015, and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) reports a 400 percent surge in phishing and malware incidents designed to steal personal information this tax season. The Tax Commission wants you to be aware of some identity theft scams and what steps you should take if you become a victim. (Read more)
