Meridian couple ordered to file delinquent tax returns

BOISE, IDAHO — May 10, 2016 — A Meridian couple has until May 13 to file delinquent Idaho income tax returns for three years in which their documented income totaled more than $170,000.

Craig and Jennifer Hoyt were ordered to file returns for 2011-2013 by Fourth District Court Judge Steven Hippler. Court records show that the couple had income of at least $41,370 in 2011, $61,591 in 2012, and $67,709 in 2013.

“We take court action only as a last resort to get people to comply with the law,” said Idaho State Tax Commission Chairman Ken A. Roberts. “In fairness to the majority of taxpayers who file tax returns voluntarily, it’s our job to follow up with those who don’t file.”

The Tax Commission is represented in this case by Deputy Attorney General Nathan Nielson.
