Free electronic filing for tax year 2015

The state of Idaho has partnered with software developers and the IRS to provide selected groups of taxpayers with free electronic filing. To see if you qualify for free filing, please read the information below and click on the company name to view their software.

Be sure to use the links on this page to use the free services offered. Otherwise, you may be assessed fees or charges by these companies.

  • Intuit Tax Freedom Edition donates free online tax preparation and e-file if:
    • Your adjusted Gross Income (AGI) is $31,000 or less
    • Or your AGI is $62,000 or less and you're Active Duty Military (including Reservists and National Guard)
    • Or you qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC)

        (Free tax extensions.)

  • Online Taxes at OLT.com offers free federal and free state online tax preparation and e-filing if:
    • Your federal adjusted gross income is between $13,000 and $62,000 (no age restrictions)
  • TaxAct offers free federal and Idaho filing if:
    • Your age is 56 or younger and your adjusted gross income (AGI) is $50,000 or less
    • Or you're eligible for Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC)
    • Or your AGI is $62,000 or less and you're Active Duty Military
